Polymer Clay Extravaganza

So I have been making more bangels that look like dragonskin. Once I have about ten completed I will start posting them on my etsy page. I love going to the store and seeing all the colors of the clay on the shelves and seeing how they can compliment one another. I recently tried using a rubber stamp on some clay to make an impression. It was an intersting try and will have to figure out a different way to more easily see the stamp once its baked.

Here is a preview of my dragonskin bracelets.
The black and white one glows in the dark, but unfortunately it broke in half :(. I am going to have to make it thicker so as not to have that problem again.

Thats all for now. Check back later for more updates!

Silicone Jewelry Finds

So I am trying to get the hang of this blogging thing lol. I am planning on making a weekly blog post with fun things I have found around etsy. This weeks post is on silicone jewelry. Weird right? When I think about silicone, I think about molds and rubbermaid tupperware lol. Well here is what I found.

http://www.etsy.com/listing/94782684/bronze-and-silicone-chainmaille-ring?ref=sr_list_18&sref=&ga_search_submit=&ga_search_query=silicone+jewelry&ga_order=most_relevant&ga_ship_to=US&ga_view_type=list&ga_search_type=handmade&ga_facet=handmade%2Fjewelry

I have to say this one is my favorite:

Have you noticed all the food jewelry out there on the market? If you have traveled around Etsy at all you will see tons of it. Here is an interesting one:

Personally, I am not a big gold fan, but this is so cool looking:

Another awesome one by the Nervous System shop on Etsy:

Thats all for now, I do have to say in my search for silicone jewelry most of it was pendants on silicone cords. Look around, I bet you will find something that fits your need!

Having fun with Polymer Clay!

I recently started playing with clay to make beads for my jewelry. I began looking around stumble upon, tumble, etsy, and various google search webpages, and i found more and more fake/faux gauges. I have found a few tutorials on youtube and various websites and they looked really easy to make. Some people carve them out of wood, bone, or plastic, while others hand make them with polyclay. I am going to try my hand at this and post updates of my work as it progresses. If you have no idea what I am talking about take a look at these photos I found around etsy:

Sorry for the random listing with the links, I was unable to insert their picture URL :(

I also found on Etsy that noone in Oklahoma City is making these items. I better get right on that! Check out my etsy shop as well!

and the clutz of the week is.....

....me! My mom has always said that I trip on air, and after the last two days I think she was right. Yesterday I was out with my friends and we all decided to see who could do the splits the lowest to the ground. Well I knew I could do it...I just didn't realize how slippery the floor was. Needless to say, I decided to attack the floor with my whole body when my feet slipped out from underneath me. I know, you are thinking well that doesn't really make you a clutz. I didn't get to this morning. After taking a muscle relaxer, so I could sleep through the night, I tried to get out of bed and attacked the floor again. I am 4 foot 11 and my bed is 3 feet off the ground so I have to diagonally slide out of bed. What I thought was diagonal, and what my body thought was diagonal got their messages mixed. So, today I am not doing anything but homework and making some more jewelry to put on my Etsy shoppe.

Here are a few I have posted recently. If you like any of them, go here for more!

Hematite Falling Stars Necklace $12.50

Peacock Hearts Earrings and Necklace Set $12.00

Hand Hammered Necklace with/without chain $10.00

Etsy Shop Promotion

While I love selling items on my etsy shop, I also love helping out other shops by helping them to promote themselves. One shop Two Sasters does a promotion every Monday where she takes her blog and helps to promote other Etsy shops on her blog. So I decided to return the favor and promote her shop with a new blog post. If you have an etsy shop and you want to promote it here, leave me a comment and I will add a link to your shop on my blog. Share the love and help us keep our small businesses going!

Pay it Forward 2012

I found this wonderful article at ArtEdventures and thought I would share and join her pay it forward project.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Do you like to receive cool handmade gifts?  Do you like to give handmade gifts and bring joy through those gifts?  Do you want to join a project and BRING JOY EXPONENTIALLY through handmade gifts?
PAY IT FORWARD 2012
This project stems from a Facebook challenge that a blogger participated in last year, in which she received one handmade gift from one person and in turn "paid it forward" by giving five handmade gifts to five people (and those five people were to each give to five people, growing the project exponentially and indefinitely).
Here's an adaptation of the project, to be carried through, by threes, via the blog world.
1
If you would like to participate, please leave a comment below.
The first three people to respond and show commitment
to the project will receive a handmade gift from me!!!
2
Post this project on your own blog--feel free to cut n' paste.
Gather three new participants and be willing / prepared
to follow through with the "Pay It Forward" part!!!
Please link back to this original post:
and I, in turn, will include a link to your post
so that we can follow the project from its origin.
3
I will give you a (small, simple, heartfelt) handmade gift.
Make sure to email me your full name and address.
In turn, give (small, simple, heartfelt) handmade gifts
to your participants, and let the joy grow exponentially!!!
(please only enter under one blog... give more than you receive!)
I will be participating in this project and will give you a handmade gift, made by me.
